paint

Has anyone ever painted their whole car? I'm looking to paint my 91 Z and I was wondering, Do I have to take the wing and underbody kit and hood blisters off? Or would the paint people paint all of it? And would it be cheaper to take that stuff off my self and just let them paint the body?

Re: paint

when i painted my car i took off pretty much all plastic parts but i dont think that you have to and it does take a lot of time. i would ask the person that you are going to have paint it. i dont think there is a rite or wrong answer for this one. from 10ft away you wont be able to see the difference.

Re: paint

Professionals will take any part off the car that touches the paint. Handles, locks, mirrors, mouldings, bumpers, etc. ... everything! You can't prep it right if you don't and it will start to lift and peel around the edges eventually.

Prep is part of what makes a good job cost so much. The more you do yourself the less you will have to pay for.

Painting your own car will surely save you a couple bucks. It's worth learning than spending over & over again. The best part is that you can do exactly what you want about it.
