On my 92 there is a bolt behind the side skirt GFX and on the 87 I don't know if someone messed up or what but I can't get to the bolt. Should I just try to sawzall it or what? It is hard to see in the picture
you mean the bolt that hold the gfx on? pull the kickpanel and there is a hole where you have access, its probably behind a piece of gooey black tape
I am almost sure it's the bolt thats holding in the fender because the front of the side skirt gfx is off.

Which gfx piece are you talking about?
the one under the door.. it's off. I just want to know how to get the bolt out of the fender the one that is in the picture. It's the last bolt I need to get off

can you not get a socket on it?
I worked on a car once that that part of the fender was kinda tweaked and had to do some pounding and twisting to get a socket on that bolt.
Hope that helps

on my 86 iroc i had to take out the side skirt. to get my fender out. yes its stupid and it seems like some engineer would design it better but that's just how it is.
The front of the side skirt is off like I said... It's just that theres suppose to be a nut there and it's the other way around the bolt is where the nut should be. I don't know how to remove it. On my 92 it's done right and the I can just unbolt it.

well then... think of it this way. if the bolt and nut are supposed to be the other way like on your 92 then that means someone before you or whatever put it on backwards which means there's an opening somewhere near that point. i'm going with 86ta on the hole behind the kickpanel. doesn't it suck when someone else has ****ed up your car?

Sounds to me like that bolt hole has been beat up.Originally Posted by robster66

Thats the only thing I can think of.

Or perhaps it's a "j" nut that has broken or rusted off, so there isn't anything to keep it from turning. If thats the case just cut it off or grind the head off or drill the head off ... whatever you have that works. It's a bolt ... you're smarter than it is, don't let it get the best of you!
I got this, I am going in for war! lol

I know this is an old post, but I've got the same problem--there is no nut behind it, it is a stud, the "nut" is on the outside of the body and its like a flat washer with 3 holes in it--must take a special socket to get it off-what were they thinking when they used this setup

I could be wrong but I think what ur seeing is a welded on nut that looks like a big thick washer. The 3 holes or depressions are the welds holding it on. If the bolt head is up against the body theres a good chance the bottom lip of your fender has been bent up when someone jacked it up or put it on a hoist improperly. If thats the case you need to straighten that area back out and then the bolt head will be accessable. And if you think I'm completely nuts and don't have a clue... then try and add a picture here and we'll take another look at it. Good luck.Originally Posted by pleiku10
