Finally got the ball rolling on 83 Trans Am restoration

This year I decided to start restoring my 1983 Trans Am. It is my first car and I had it sitting for the last 8 years. This year it got a few upgrades new 350 bored .30 over, crane cam, flat top pistons, hydraulic lifters, oil pump, timing chain, headers, edelbrock intake, holley 650 cfm dp street hp, accel distrib stuff, custom 3" stainless Y-pipe, everything to do with standard transmission is new every bolt and part except the clutch pedal. Motor and T5 are painted black aswell. Pictures suck cause i took them with my cell phone, I will post proper pictures when I finish the car next spring. It is stored for the winter now. Engine bay is painted aswell but everything is dirty I'll dress everything up when i find the right pieces.

Here are the pics, feel free to leave any suggestions or ideas.

Awesome. Gotta love the early trans ams, I own an 84, and love it. One thing I recommend you check out is the front sub frame, near the steering box, look underneath for cracks, and re-welds. I also reccomend some steering braces and a wonder bar. I found a Re-Weld under my subframe from being improperly braced.

Good luck.

Yeah I got lucky the only problem with the car was some surface rust, I let the car sit for the summer in its primer to make sure no rust was gonnatry come back, and i plan on reinforcing the car before I drive it, Just trying to figure out what suspension upgrades I can do, I want to bring it up to date and beyond. I need something to hold that T5 in better aswell.

looks like a pretty good project. as for suspension I would say it depends what you want to do with the car. sub frame connectors and a wonder bar would be a good start!

it really depends on you cash and time budget. a simple 4th gen seat swap can take a few hours and only a couple hundred bucks. It also depends on the condition of your interior. how is your plastic, carpet, dash, headlinner, seats?
