"Camaro" Lettering in the Grill

Is there a site somewhere that already has the letters in the grill set it correct size and shape, or a kit already put together? I've seen white, do they also make other colors?

I've got the Iroc Grill I believe and I would like the letters to stand out, but I want them red.

Get a red paint pen. Write on the raised surface in red.

They'll usually have paint pens to change your white print tires to blue/red/yellow/etc. You can usually get 'em at any local hobby shop. I could have sworn the letters on mine were raised, but they might not be. The brand new one has been in storage since I got it. :/

I used a silver paint pen, I got at AC Moore. I think it looks pretty good, just have to go slow and easy!

HAHA I'm a re-re, It comes out, not inset, and it's the Z28 one so it's the bowtie not the camaro letters.

The paint pens work well on the black surface? If I was to buy red paint, would it actually show a decent red? Or would it be very faded on the black surface?

Re: "Camaro" Lettering in the Grill

A trick I learned in the Model Railroad industry, when worried about coverage on a darker colour, is to use a more dense colour in the background. For example, when colouring the handrails on scale-model diesel locomotives, one would colour the handrail with a silver sharpie marker, then go over them with red, white, yellow, etc. The same theory would apply here....use a silver paint in the background first, then cover that with the red...not only will that allow the red to cover better, it'll give it a bit of shimmer since the silver in the background, by nature, is going to be semi-reflective.
