Trunk Lock

Maybe this is just me being finicky but can the Trunk lock be repositioned so it is aligned with the hole in the plastic piece in the middle of the lights. I looked at it before but the lock is held on with those mad rivits that they also used on the window regulator on the doors.

Re: Trunk Lock

If the rear body panel is bent in that area it could cause it to be misaligned, looks like you might be able to pull it out and down a little. But you have to be careful about causing a leak if you go bending things. You do have the center piece and the lights all lined up i assume.

aww crap ... that thread is way old!

I hate when I do that!

Looks like r
the Thread is back in the spot light.

I had a look at re adjusting mine. I would have to move down the lock by redrilling the holes or filing the original ones. If I did that then I don't think the connecting rod at the back of the key switch would reach the lock mechanism. There is nothing bent or misaligned in my case. It think that this is the way it left the factory all those years ago.

Re: Trunk Lock

I just noticed Kitt1983 that you have an 83 model. Maybe this re alignment was just on the early models. Was it 85 when they changed the rear lights?

Re: Trunk Lock

How do the lights and center piece line up to each other ... and the body. There is some play in the light mounting holes. Depending on how everything else looks maybe you could open up a hole or two on the center piece and fudge it over a bit.
