I have new weatherstripping on and the t-top won't go down far enough to close. I've tried leaning, pushing and standing on top to push down and it still won't reach far enough to latch the top down. any help? please??? I have an 84 T/A I adjusted the plastic part where it latches and it still won't close.

pics will help, if the weather stripping isnt glued down on the sides, or the corners are not quite right it will lift the tops up. is it that they wont go down or will they just not latch. how are they fitting into the t-bar, do they fit all they way in or do they only go in so far. the added thickness of the stripping can sometimes make it a pain in the *** to get the latches adjusted right. put up a few pics that show whats going on and maybe you can get a few other opinions that will be a little more helpful than mine.

What brand did you use? Do you still have the packaging? Make sure it's right for your year and model.
I clamped the weatherstripping down tight and left it for a while. I don't have the pillar covers on but will put them back on today. after that my husband and I finally were able to close it with a lot of pressure. I left it on all night and will leave it in the sun today to see if that makes it easier. It was the right one for my car. I got metro moulded and it went on and fits very nice. looks great just thicker than my old stuff. the edge where the t-top closes the rubber is a little harder and not soft like the rest of it. that's why it wasn't going down on that edge. Maybe it will just take a while of settling in. I won't take them off again until summer anyway. I usually never take them off.
Another plus for using GM original materials. I replaced my TTop weatherstripping this past year with OEM parts from the dealer. When I was finished installing, the ttops were installed and locked in place without issue. I have not experienced any leaks when I washed the car either. The only thing I can suggest doing is verify the latches are set correctly. If they were moved to allow the tops to lock, they may leak. Double check before taking the car out in a rain.

there are adjustments where the pins lock into
when the seals wear out most people adjust them down for a better seal
there should be two small screws that will allow you to twist the mount a bit for a better fit

they are fitting better now after leaving them on all night. they area for the pin was already all the way to the top. Thanks
my t-tops are o.k. now but now have figured out why my driver door is having trouble shutting. I'm just not sure how to fix it. when my window is down even half an inch the door closes fine. when it is all the way up, the door bounces back and doesn't want to latch. i noticed the triangle piece by the mirror would move out a lot when the door did close with the window up. the window is leaning in toward the inside of the car and when it tries to close it hits the body and is forced outward. I adjusted the triangle piece in the door to lean outward but when the window goes up it starts to pull that piece back inward causing too much pressure against the frame and it won't close. I'll try to get pics up.

How long has that been going on? These windows constantly need adjusting. There is a thread on how to do it. A couple of other ideas, If you just recently changed out the door weatherstriping sometimes aftermarket stuff is larger than stock and prevents the door from closing properly. And then there is the hinge pin. That can wear out and cause the door to sag. There is a kit you can buy with new pins, it's a pretty easy fix.
I think the door may sag a little but really haven't had problems until the new weatherstripping this week. The passenger door closes fin.e you do have to close it a little harder but it still isn't like the driver door.
hopefully this video link works. you can see the triangle piece and the window get pushed out as I try to close the door. the entire moves for that matter. the door doesn't close until the window is slight down and the triangle piece bends back out. as the window goes up it pushes the piece inward toward the inside of the car. for some reason I can't get photobucket to work. I've used it many times but when I copy and paste it just puts a bunch of Italian words up.????? i'll keep trying.
http://web.me.com/robertapplegate/Site/window.html this goes to my website but takes a long time to download. I can't even just put a pic from photobucket since it just puts a bunch or words up.http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=100_4134.flv

i am slowly getting closer. It now seems to fit by that side but now a big gap by back of the glass. I adjusted the opposite side that I thought i didn't need to touch.
thanks for the info about the tech help on here. I finally got the window right. I have a small gap with weatherstripping and I still think my door sags a little but I can deal with that. the door still catches a little when you try to close it and you can hear it rubbing and see it lift up a little when it closes. i'm glad to be done with that window. I've broken almost all my nails but it's done. It's hard to be a woman trying to keep nails and work on my cars.

The problem being is that you will eventually have to get that door fixed. Really, it's an easy fix. Then you'll need to readjust the window. Do yourself a big favor and get the hinge repair kit and get the door fixed. Then take off the inside door panel and take the car to a good car glass guy and have him properly adjust the window for your newly repaired door. I fiddle farted with mine for years, My doors sagged so I eventually fixed them. Then the windows never really sealed. There was always a small leak and wind noise. No matter what I did. Then I took it to a glass repair guy who had them adjusted in minutes. No leaks, no wind noise, doors and windows close like new.
yeah. I'll have to get that kit. i did have a little wind noise I found after driving.
