Attaching rear spoiler

I am about to put my spoiler back on. When I took it off for painting it was bolted directly to the body. Does anyone know if this is correct or was their some kind of seal between the spoiler and the body to protect the paint.

Thanks
Mike

Re: Attaching rear spoiler

There should be some sort of gasket around the base to protect the interior sheet metal from rain and other moisture. Otherwise, your hatch will rust out.

Re: Attaching rear spoiler

mine was direct bolt on . when i re-installed i made sure to put sealent around stud base on spoiler . this should prevent any water leakage . i went maybe a little overboard , i removed all studs , cleaned same , light coat of epoxy , re-installed studs . let epoxy cure for 24 hrs. , then installed . good luck .
