Door Swap?

ok recently me and my dad swapped out the passenger side door of a 84 Z28 for a 89 RS. We replaced the hinges and bushings for the bottom only and finnally got the door back on yesterday......but when we went to shut it, it wouldnt close all the way and felt like it was rubbing up aganist the ground effect but we really couldnt tell. the only way we can get it to shut all the way is if we put some elbow grease into it and shut it with all our might.......any ideas on why it is so difficult to shut? thx

Did you have the window up or down when you were trying to shut it? Definately start with the window down so it isn't part of the problem. Then you need to see how far it closes before it hangs up. Look closely and see what doesn't line up. There has to be some clue somwhere. Is it aligned to the 1/4 panel both up and down and in and out ... at the top and the bottom. Does the body line half way up the door panel match up with the 1/4 panel? Doors can be a pain... windows can be worse. But it's all doable.

Re: Door Swap?

sounds like its out of alignment, no matter how much it looks the same....no to parts are, could be the top hinge is wore out, open the door and pick up and down on it, if it moves alot u need a hinge rebuild
