Board member lonsal offers some kits that seem to be well-regarded.
Search, & check it out.

Good luck,

Re: headlight motor rebuild

My brother-In-Laws Firebird had a left motor that would get the light up about halfway then it would stick....we just took it out and pried open the case , turned the plastic gear cog around to the opposite side and then epoxy'd the cover back on and bolted it all back on. It's been working for the last two years with no problems since , but that's the ghetto approach , if you had a broken gear cog and not something else , and wanted to save a few bucks . Our cost was just a couple minutes...I already had a tube of epoxy glue in the tool box.

Uh...dude , I'm assuming you know how to get the assembly out and take the motor off an all that.....

Good description on how to do the one-time free fix on a 1993-2002 Firebird headlight motor. It doesn't apply for the 1987-92 two-wire motor or the earlier three-wire motor. Acctually on those 1993-2002 motors all you had to do was remove the arm from the end of the shaft and turn the **** at the top until the shaft had rotated a full 180 degrees and re-attach the arm. Essentially it does the same thing without having to remove the gear. Of course unless you know the history of the car, this one-time free fix may have already been done. Again, this repair method does not apply to the 87-92 headlight motor in question. He needs to replace the OEM hard gel bushings inside the nylon gear. Many sources (including me) for the kit he needs.
