paint quote

The local body shop gave me a quote of $1850 to do the final sanding, shoot DuPont color and clear, and polish. All lights, handles, trim, etc. have already been removed and no body work is required. I'm just looking for driver paint and thought that sounded a little high.

Re: paint quote

Did they break it down. Labor and materials? Not knowing what paint they are going to use, prices vary, but it would be easy to spend $850 on good quality materials. That leaves $1000 for labor... 20 hours at $50 an hour. Not unreasonable IMO.

Re: paint quote

I paid $1500 for Materials to paint my car I used Sherwin Williams. PPG is a little less at $1000 and Dupont was significantly less at $850 or so. This was RED paint which is the most expensive.

That sounds like a GREAT deal personally, especially if they can buff it out for you.

Re: paint quote

when i painted mine i paint was around 900 so after spending that it cost another 1000 to have a body guy, help..... prep and paint it. that was only help mind you, i did a good majority of the work myself, and i still have to color sand and buff myself, so if they do good and repuatable work i would say thats a great price.

color sanding a buffing alone is a 5 to 8 hundred dollar job. atleast thats the price range i've gotten from a few shops in the chicago land area
