4th gen wing modified?
I really like the look of the 4th gen TA spoiler on our birds, although i do admit from some angles it doesnt seem to flow with the car. For those of you that have one or looked at one, would it be possible to shave down the legs and bottom of the arms so that it doesnt sit up quite so high? And still be able to bolt it down?

Re: 4th gen wing modified?
3 real options....
1. Buy an expensive one designed to simply drop into the 3rd gen original holes
2. Buy a 93-97 wing, weld the stock holes shut, drill 4 new ones & extend the center 2 posts
3. Buy a 98-02 wing, weld the stock holes shut, drill 4 new ones & extend the center 2 posts (which is really pretty easy).....Then find out it won't sit flat, short of throwing $500 at a lot of custom fiberglass work at the bottom
As for shortening it...I wouldn't suggest trying that. Its hollow & by the time you shortened it, you'd lose the bottoms & it wouldn't sit anymore...Short of a lot of new fiberglass bottoms, like option #3.
I was real hesitant to do it to my car too, until I did it. Every time I looked at my car, I liked it more & more. So I sold my fiberglass OEM style wing & haven't regretted it for even a second!

I disagree. Doesnt flow to me. It is obvious that it wasnt made for our cars. The back of our cars are rather boxed/squared and it is rounded and tall. It looks better than a lot of the other spoilers Ive seen ppl run but I think the aero and wrap around spoiler look better.

That is how we found out about the differences & that the LT1 wings fit much better.

Re: 4th gen wing modified?
It flows better with the 91-92 cars than the older ones. I've never been a huge fan of the last two year firebirds GM tried to round them up to sqeeze a couple more years out of the body when everything was going to a rounded look in the 90's. However the spoiler mostly fits in with the GM rounded parts on the long stright lines of the car.
Now on the more squared firebirds and T/A from previous years it stands out as not quite belonging.
To reduce the height of the spoiler (is it fiberglass) I would take it out of the middle not the bottom and then refiberglass the two halfs together.

Re: 4th gen wing modified?

He bought the car with 15" Formula-style wheels.....
Got the 17" Snypers.....
Got the 16" Gold Crosslaces from me.....
Painted the Crosslaces black.....
And that is what it currently has.......for now.

Yep. Here's what she looked like a year and a half ago:

I would show you what it looks like now, but it's not relevant to this thread since I currently have the wing on saw horses getting prepped for paint......oh wait, I'm shaving and prepping the whole car for paint.
But, here's a little teaser of what the car will "kinda" look like in a couple of months:

Stephen---DON'T spill the beans on what else I'm doing that's not in this pic!....I want it to be a surprise.
