Re: Finally gettin somewhere!
The larger part of the stripe is a Mazda color, Sangria Mica...
the outer smaller part of the stripe is going to be a Ford color, brillinat silver metallic
Sorry bout the Mustang pic....
I really liked these 2 colors because the metallics in them match...its pretty cool...

I wasnt really a fan of the stripes when it was taped on, but now that its on the car, it looks pretty good! Looks like you've come a long way with the car, nice progress!

It's looking good. Now, I know nothing about painting a car, so i'm wondering why you painted the stripes first and not the base color then stripes...

Re: Finally gettin somewhere!
Coolwheels-I did do it azz backwards..I was pressed for time..I couldnt really have my car at the shop for that long.I did the stripe at home and it took me a good 3 weekends to get it the way I wanted. Then all I had to do was take her to the shop and base and clear.UNFORTUNATELY...I had painted my hood first and when I untaped the stripe after I got my black base on I was NOT in love with the silver...so, I just made the whole stripe red. Thanks so much for all the compliments!!!!
.... Just got her done today!

I've got to find one of those hoods. The paint came out great and I love the stripe on the hood. Can't wait to see it finished!

Re: Finally gettin somewhere!
Looks awesome, but I already told you that on Pro-Touring.com!
And I always paint the stripes first. It's a lot easier masking off the smaller stripe(s) than it is the whole car!
Can't wait to see the wheels on it...love em.

Oh man! I love those wheels. I cant wait to see them on the car. Ive been tossing around the idea of the exact same ones, but ive not seen enough third gen pics whith them on to make a good decision. Theres somebody on this forum with them on his black car and they look absolutely killer. Looking great!

Wasn't too crazy bout the stripe but it looks good, maybe a lil much with the hood but I really want to see it all together to make a final judgement overall looks good though. What kind of rims are those? Where did you get them? How much dare I ask?

Re: Finally gettin somewhere!
Thanks krazefbird! I did the hood cause you cant see the stiripes on the side when you look at the car from the front...I like the way it accenuates (sp) the lines of the hood...
My wheels are the RPM R-505's...they werent really that bad...I have 19s outback and 18s up front...I bought them from wheel studio..
http://www.wheelstudio.com/view-whee...ll/vehicle-all
It was like $155 for the front and rears for $185...all that plus shipping..HOWEVER...y rear tires because of the 19s ran me $468(shipped).
I am also gona need 3/4" spacers for the front...I spent my whole income tax check on my car...awesome..

Great job with the paint bsporty! I've been contemplating on hockey stripes on my car as well, but was thinking to go with vinyl, don't have the skills or $$ for paint. It definitely looks great on your car. LOVE the wheels!

Your car is turning out great!! Your painting it yourself I take it? I'm impressed, wish I had the knowhow. Want to come down south and paint mine? Wanna get married? Oh wait I'm already married, that won't work. lol. I think your car would look REALLY sick if you painted the inside of your wheels black and left the lip polished! I'm looking foreward to seeing your car come together.
My truck is the opposite of yours, it's red with black.

Cool, thanks for the link, way much better than 2100 for a set of Boze mesh wheels. Now, what are the specifics? did you do 5x120 or 120.7? Do you have just stock brakes and stuff...oh I guess scrolling up would help. lol I think these wheels are awesome! Don't think I am copying you if I get some! If luck comes my way I am looking at taking my bird to Hawks 3rd gen for a LSX conversion heh heh heh.

How are those wheels going to work on the front though. Won't the hub bearing be in the way? Or are you doing a brake conversion?

Bsporty, Looking at the pics and the rims, you didn't mock up the front? Do they fit over the wheel hub bearing? Do you have to get a spacer? Info info! lol! Please let us know!

Re: Finally gettin somewhere!
The front will definately need a spacer possiably a 3/4"...As of right now doesnt fit over the hub....The wheel tapers down in the front to fit the little centercap goes...thats where I got a problem....We havent had much time as we have been trying to get the Chevelle ready for a carshow thats on the 10th! I will keep yas posted though

Re: Finally gettin somewhere!
Well, I was afraid of that happening. I have been doing a little research on it and thought that might happen but seeing your rims had given me hope. I have seen that eb miller makes a brake conversion kit that takes the stock disk up to a 14" c4 vette disk I think? And looking at that kit I think it rearranged the hub bearing so that it it inside the disk and or not as far out and you can put different aftermearket rims on maybe? I'm not totally sure but that might be the fastest fix for it. Thanks for the info!!!
