Filler/Bondo for Grill???

Alright guys, one of my latest projects involves sanding down the "Camaro" from my grill, repainting it black, and then applying a custom emblem. The grill is sanded, but there are still very faint sections that show "camaro". I think a very light coat of some kind of filler and a light sanding would do the trick.

Can I do this with bondo (on plastic), or is something else needed?

I would think you could. I did use Evercoat metal glaze on my wife's GTA. On the hood louvers it worked well to fill the rock chips and sands nice without cutting to deep into the plastic as its soft.
I used the kind with a catalyst hardener, it is what they call cross-linked. It is very durable and used by pro's.

Im not sure but i would think it would chip off pretty fast. I would scuff it up real good before trying it. Good luck

There are lots of 2 part epoxy and 2 part urethane products made for plastic repair. Any of those products would be better than a polyester based product like body filler or metal glaze. Although I have to admit they aren't going to sand as easy.

Re: Filler/Bondo for Grill???

Well, I bought a small container of bondo. ...the layer that I'm gonna put down (after sanding) will only be paper thin. Probably don't need more than a big spoonful.

...anyhow...guess we'll see.....

Re: Filler/Bondo for Grill???

The actual amount still on the grille after sanding was probably less than the amount of toothpaste you put on your brush. Guess my sanding of the "CAMARO" letters was better than I thought.

....I'll post up pics when it's done!
