Can you name this part?

So I've known about this for a while but I finally want to know what it is. It's in the bottom-driver-side corner of the front of the car, it's a black sphere with a rubber hose coming out of one side, and it's not mounted to anything really. It has mountable arms on it but I don't see where it mounts (note that I didn't look very hard) and I don't know what the hell it does. It lies directly below the battery. It's about the size of a large grapefruit. See the image attached please. What is it, what does it do..?

Re: Can you name this part?

its(behind) the fender right? Not on the outside.
If so,I think you're talking about the vacuum control for the cruise control.

If its not really hooked up to anything and your cruise don't work, take it off unless you wish to fix the cruise.
In that case, get under the car re-secure the sphere to its right place and check everything else out.

Re: Can you name this part?

It is a vacuum reservoir for vacuum controlled devices in the car. During hard acceleration and Wide Open Throttle situations the engine produces little to no vacuum. The main purpose is for the air blend doors in the heater box under the dash.

Re: Can you name this part?

yea its a vacuum resevoir. if you have or had cruise control in your car it was a definate need to run your vacuum on your cruise Chevy put them on all vehicles but as far as I've been able to tell arent entirely needed on every 3rd gen. I considered removing mine but left it as its not really bothering me where it is.

Re: Can you name this part?

You have found the holy grail of automotive performance!
If you remove it, your car will get 70plus mpg and pickup 500hp !!
I would keep it because after you learn to use the hidden secret decoder to learn all your RPO codes by heart, then you reach 88mph you can acheive time travel!

Sorry for the goof, the part is just what the posters above have said...
