Replace your hatch props! Super easy!
I'm doing a few minor repairs on my beater T/A to get it back ont the road for the summer and I got sick of carrying around the broomstick for the rear hatch. I guess I was afraid they props would be expensive or hard to find or something.
Carquest has the props on sale for $60 for the pair. they have all the proper fittings for the defroster and lights. Super easy install, just takes a t-50 torx head socket and a 8mm wrench. No more broomstick! Certainly makes taking the t-tops on and off easier.
Do it now!

Or you could do like I did and buy a hood/hatch holding tool from Cornwell Tools or any other supplier for around ten dollars and you put it on your strut and clamp it down and it holds your hood/hatch up untill you release it and it is small enough to fit in your pocket .

It is easy and for some reason people tend to think they aren't easily available at a parts store. 89-bird, it sounds like what you're referring to is a glorified pair of vise grips :-)

Re: Replace your hatch props! Super easy!
No not visegrips at all just a tool originally for safety but I couldn't afford the money for new struts so I just use it to hold up the hatch . It is designed to hold the hood or hatch open by attaching to the strut at the body of the strut and it clamps to the rod in a manner not to scar or nick the rod so it doesn't damage the strut if you work on cars it is better than a prop because a prop can get in your way and this doesn't . If I had the money to get new hatch struts I would but I still would carry this with me incase of strut failure .

Re: Replace your hatch props! Super easy!
Does anyone know if 4th gen struts (or other Vehicles from JY) would have the same sort of struts ?.
So many things to replace on my 3rd gen, so need to pay as little $$$ for each part as possible..
Need hood struts too, is there something for that too ?
Thanks
Rhys.

I'm curious, my Camaro has clips at the top and bottom to hold my struts on the mounting pins. Are you sure you need to use a wrench at all?
