Need Help with paint, first time.
I have an 84 Camaro In pretty good shape, no rust, just a dent in the passengers door. It currently just has a fairly cheap white paint with no clear coat on it.
My first question would be, Does a car need to be completly covered in primer before a base coat is applied even if there is no bare metal showing, as in there is already a previous coat of paint on it?
Im planning on sanding the current paint, and attempting to repair the dent with bondo and then primer (if needed) base, clear, etc etc. Iv never done this before however and Im not sure what the whole process is exactally. If someone could provide a link to a good step by step on how to do this, for example which grits of sand paper to use and when to dry or when to wet sand etc that would be awsome.
Also if anyone could suggest what brands of paint / primer to use that would be awsome. Im planning on getting a DevilBiss Finishline 3 w/ 3 or 4 different nozles for the job to.
The car is White, same one thats in my sig. I will be putting a different hood on it before I start b/c the current one has a giant hole where a hood scoop was. The new hood is blue and does have a clear coat on it.
