Help. What do I need to do.....
I need to do some welding on the body. What should I disconnect before I start? Battery is out of the car on the charger. What about the ECM or other electronics?
IIRC the ECM on an '87 IROC is behind the dash on the passenger side, how do you disconnect it?

I think the manufacturer says to disconnect any electronics "in the area" of the welding. As long as your ground is connected to the same panel you should be fine.

I've been welding up the lock cylinder holes and antenna hole this past week on my car. I didn't disconnect anything and I've had zero issues.

I'd disconnect the alternator if your doing arc welding. My GM Nova assembly manaul says to disconnect alt and batt. So I'd assume it would be the same for our cars.
