Hey guys, the car we just picked up needs the pass. side Front fender replaced, half of the people I talk to tell me it's different.. So whats the real answer, and what's really different?
No one on this vast forum of third gen buffs has an answer? I'm trying to put a budget together.. Can I use an aftermarket fender to replace my rusted out ones on my 1988 Iroc Convertible? If not, why?

You can take any fender and cut it down to size to make it work on a vert. Just pull the gfx off the other fender and take a look at it.
Should only take you 15-20min. to measure, markeand take a cut off wheel to a fender.

Which part has to be cut, where the Ground FX go?

The fenders are the same except the bottom of the section in front of the door needs to be cut off to clear the extra frame support added to the convertibles. There is also a special bracket that the convertible fenders have that attaches the fenders to the bottom of the car. As long as you've got the original fender you should be able to use that to find out where to cut it off at. You should also be able to get the bracket you need off your old fender.
Thanks a ton, man. I've been wondering about this since we brought the car home.. Do they make aftermarket door skins, too? Theres a couple big dings, and it's a black car, so I want it perfect..

I think you can still get aftermarket door skins but I'm not sure.

I believe the only aftermarket door skins they make are for the bottom 6" of the door. Those are the only ones I've seen anyway. I might have some doors to sell you, they're off a firebird but they don't have ground fx so you should be able to make them work. But they need new hinges (not just pins) and severe rust repair.
