Door Lock/Latch Problem

Hey yall, well this time i think i really hosed up big, a few weeks ago i was working on my firebird, and well i herd a clang and the door opened all the way, well i tried to close the door, but noticed that the latch was closed, so i had to use a log to close the door(propping it the log between the ground and door) well i opened it the next day and fiddled with the latch and the two rods that goto the latch push or pull they didn't do anything i tried the key and nothing, so i took the latch out and noticed that i just needed to pry the thing that locks the latch up, i figured it was fix and closed the door. well i guess i didnt fix it so the only way to get into the firebird is though the t-tops. so my question is is there a way short using a crowbar or damaging the door to open the door? please tell me there is a way, i would het a better picture but i cant get the pass door open either, should i just weild the dore shut and take the window out? act out some duke boys?

Re: Door Lock/Latch Problem

Hold on a second here, how did you get it closed? Did you just slam it closed? When you put it back together did you check to make sure the connecting rods where hooked up tight? Sounds like the rods are not connected or your latch is broken (and not repairable). I'm fairly certain you should be able to get a coat hanger and pull the latch up and release the door. If you can't do it a locksmith can. I'd say just replace the latch(s).
