IROC stripes- Where to buy

I am going to purchase a new IROC stripes set for my camaro and have found that I can get them at Phoenix Graphics and Decal King for $69 at each place. The price is right, figured I would see if any members have an opinion and experience to share for either. I see that Phoenix has a premium set for sale too but I don't have $140 to spend. Makes me wonder if the basic set is crap. So, I ask you fellow members, is either better than the other? Or do you know of another place to recommend with similar prices and quality.

I did the premium kit from phoenix graphics and was very happy. You should call them and ask what the difference is.

Re: IROC stripes- Where to buy

I would have to guess that the difference is in the vinyl. "performance" or premium vinyl is typically a better quality, thinner vinyl. Even when I buy it wholesale, it costs me at least double of a general use vinyl costs.

that being said, I've used general use vinyl on just about everything from cars, banners, choroplast signs, etc. and it holds up pretty well. The higher dollar stuff is rated to last longer. I think 5 years or something like that. Whereas the general stuff is something like 3 years. I do mostly lettering, though I'll be figuring out the design for the iroc stripes and will be making my own in the very near future.

If you pay that for the stripes you are nuts. Check your local area for a sign shop and show them what you want. Nothing special about the stripe decals.

Thats not a bad idea. Just need to get the stripe dimensions. Find another car to measure I guess.

Re: IROC stripes- Where to buy

yeah, that's why I have my vinyl plotter. I used to do alot of signwork, just out of my house. Then I discovered that I could just do the designwork and outsource the physical parts... then pick the orders up on the way home from my 'real' job and still make a profit.

If anyone has the dimensions for the stripes, guessing they go from chin spoiler, up and over, all the way back to the bottom of the rear bumper, I'll see about cutting a kit. I can let you know what the actual materials cost is. $69 isn't bad though. You figure they're charging you for the wasted materials to. At best, they have a 50" cutter so you're figuring about 40-45 feet of vinyl, their labor to separate the un-needed portions, then the transfer tape which is just as long.

I'd guess if I did them at home, they'd still be about $50.
