NEED HELP WITH 6'' COWL
Whats up guys.I need some help finding a 6'' cowl for my Formula because nothing smaller will clear my big chief motor.Ive called VFN and Glasstek and they are both around $800-1000 for this hood plus I have to wait approx. 6 weeks for it. I think that is a bit pricey for a hood and the wait is terrible. What do you guys recommend? Thanks

I know if you search the net for hood scopes you could probaly find one that you could use with your existing hood, by cutting a hole in it and put a scope on it. might even look better anyway, and be cheaper, just a thought

the scoop will prob. be cheaper and it will make the car faster (on motors like mine they have been proven to be worth a tenth) but I just dont like that look.thanks

Re: NEED HELP WITH 6'' COWL
You'll need fromt and and a mid plate but if you are building a BC headed engine than you prob already have planned for them. I went 6 inch because of the fogger system that was taller than the carb.(I bet I could have went with a 4 inch but my car wasnt around at the ordering time) Ask greeze monkey I believe he uses a 4 inch with stock location engine but that BC motor is about 4 inches taller. My buddy just built a tube chassis 68 and has the engine as low as possible and needed an 8 inch cowl to clear and that engine and it was deep in the chassis.

Re: NEED HELP WITH 6'' COWL
not really.I dont like the lift off style and if i use the bolt on i will have to cut the rear of the hood to clearance the windshield when the hood is opened.By doing this the hood will then look kind of crappy in my opinion so i think my best bet will be going with a small scoop
