I have a 1986 camaro. The front of the car has the front plate and the grill that on the driver side is broken and the other side is good. Should i take off the front plate and remove the grill pieces on the otherside? Any comments or suggestions about this? I seen alot of camaros with these off? and wondered if that was an option or guy did the same thing?

 

the only ones ive seen with out those are the ones with factory fog lights.but yea you can run with out it if you want,but you could get one pretty cheap online or at a junkyard.

 

What you have probably been seeing is the grill with the cut outs for fog lights. Behind the license plate holder is a panel with a chevy bow-tie on it. These were installed on all cars ordered with fog lights.

 

If it were mine I'd remove the other grille so it looks symmetrical and as long as your state doesn't have front plates, get rid of the plate holder. Pop out your turn signal housings and polish them out with some plastic polish. Take it one notch further and remove your wiper arms and 4 metal headlight trim and shoot them with a coat or two of semi flat black paint. You'd be surprised what small details make a difference. How are your electronics?

 

My electronics are radio, dash, trunk pop up. Basically the mininum needs. The engine is not ecm controlled its carb'd still have wiring there that i have not yet to remove. Since i do not need it. And I am not going back to tbi. and this is a crate engine 305 so 600cfm edlebrock with performer intake. I wouldn't mind putting fog lights in. But eh. Yea I know the little details like paint ect.. :P thanks for the advice any more much appreciated. I use meguirs i think thats what it calls to clean and polish all plastics. Good stuff but 5 dollars a bottle but lasts for quite sometime. I haven't done it to this car. Since been busy with work and all. Right now the important thing on my list is i am converting my car from auto to manual WOC T-5. From a 91 firebird. But i been looking at other cars and thought of the input of taking it out. And yes no frontplate where I live so I will be taking that off b/c i do hate it there. But was keeping it mostly orginial before doing anything like that and some input. October 30 to Nov 6th is my little vacation i took off from work. So i will be doing this swap in that time frame. As long as the weather permits. So more advice would be taken into consideration to make this baby shine. The paint is another thing I will need to be doing as well. What color would be good. NO stripes since to many have done that. Just one color maybe stock pin stripes on the sides. But thats it. Colors needed opinions on. Same or different color.

Its okay :P. Yea its not a bad price at all though i was checkin on ebay nothing. And i was thinking of getting rid of it and putting fog lights in. Since on my dash has a plate where i could hook up a toggle switch. But later project for now. :P.

 

On the driver side of the bottom bumper as you can see its been bottomed out a few times. It cracked anyway to repair that and still look good?
