Re: Chrome Gas Cap

Im sure auto zone or similar stores sell em. Check ebay as well, gas caps are pretty interchangable.

I dont mean to be rude but can you elaborate on why you want to remove the fuel door?

Re: Chrome Gas Cap

If your going for the Viper-style, chrome, flip gas cap look, the C/K truck seies door are a perfect fit & you can get them in the chrome or allen head screw ring style doors.

The are behind the door around the gas cap is pretty ugly, not the mention the ugle square hole left in there, when the gas door hinge is gone.

I think this is a good idea and may be looking into doing it myself. Anyone have any pics of it done?

Re: Chrome Gas Cap

I'm guessing your looking for one of those race looking gas caps, or one more like the latter model mustangs did with the billet style gas doors. I dont think any are made specifically for thirdgens (maybe but havent seen any) But I am sure there will be a way to customize pretty much any aftermarket gas door to our cars. the original is pretty much basic with just a simple hinge mounted, so I am guessing (havent done it) that with a bit of ingeuity and a little elbow grease and a few screws you can probably easily make that gas door happen. Just be creative and think it through thuroughly and it'll work. gas doors are kinda universal in the most basic sense anyways.

A place caled Pro-Motion Engineering out of Bronx, New York, used to make one. Advertised it as a 10-minute, simple bolt-on installation.

Remember, these were around back in the 60s, as the Daytona cap gas, for endurance races & quick refills. The Mustangs certainly weren't the oridinator of them. I know the 60s Vettes had them & who knows who did before that!
