Windshield washer help
Windshield washer help
Don't know if this is the best section for this question or not, but here goes-
I've got a 1983 Berlinetta and I can't get the windshield washers to work. This has the small square at the top of the wiper motor housing on the firewall, with three lines coming out of the cover pointing at an angle up and off to the right side of the car.
Today I took all of the lines off, cut the ends back a short way to fresh hose, made sure the end sprays were open, made sure the left and right lines were open, made sure the line from the washer fluid tank to the pump (the square top plate with the three lines coming out of it) was open and clear, and blew out and cleaned the pickup screen in the fluid tank. But it did'nt help any at all. When I run the wipers and rotate the thumb lever for the washers, I hear clicking noises. I've tried it both with and without the wipers running.
Is there anything I'm missing? Should I check for voltage going into the wiper motor housing? Does the washer work on vaccuum off the wiper movement?
I'm about ready to just go get a generic pump from NAPA and bypass the the stock pump altogether. Is there a good 12 Volt hot- with- ignition- on wire close by on the firewall to tap into for an add- on aftermarket pump?
Does anybody know which wire is run by the washer thumb switch on the turn signal lever stalk on the steering column?
