500hp and t-tops?

Re: 500hp and t-tops?
Even a hard top would need help with 500hp. These cars are far from the stiffest in factory trim. SFC's are a big help even on a six cylinder. I'd start with weld in SFC's and if you feel that isn't enough, build a cage to help tie everything together.

You will need sub-frame connectors at a bare minimum. If you plan to push it at the track, then a partial cage is highly recommended. A full cage is of course better, but not everyone wants to deal with that.
I'm in the same type of position myself and this is the conclusion I've reached.

yea like they said, in a t-top or even a hard top, youll need sub fram connectors at the very least and a roll cage at least a partial to connect the rear frame and front unibody section together to at least help with the frame twist youll get with 500 hp.

i got 500 with ttops, but have nasty subframes, no cage...did fine at the track, its all how you launch the car, if you spin, you be fine, if you hook, thats where the trouble starts

Re: 500hp and t-tops?
I have somewhere around 450 in my Z28 and it bent the frame bad enough that the driver door doesn't close right. Go with sub frame connectors just to be safe

I would never fire up a 3rd gen with that much power if it didn't have sub-frame connectors fearing that very problem.
