Re: firebird hoods?
Actually you have quite a few hood options:
4 1/2" Cowl Hood (Ugly in my opinion, but it is almost required for BBC swaps. It is also worth mentioning that these come in quite a few different heights.)
ISMA Hood (Think of it as a symmetrical power bulge hood)
Super Duty Hood (Basically it's a fourth generation style Camaro SS hood for 3rd generation Firebirds)
Daytona Hood (Another hideous hood, but you might like it.)
3" Z28 Style Hood (It's a Z28 style cowl hood designed for use with 3rd generation Firebirds.)
Ram Air I Hood (Styled after the Ram Air hoods designed for fourth generation cars between 1993-1997. It actually flows with the 3rd generation body lines very well I think.)
Ram Air II Hood (A very popular hood styled after the 1998-2002 WS6 Ram Air hoods on fourth generation cars. Personally I think it goes against the body lines of these cars. It looks best on 1991-1992 cars, but even then it's a bit too much for their lines as well.)
Among the OEM steel hoods you also have three different choices for 1982-1992 Firebird/Trans-AM cars. The base model Firebird hood, the power bulge/Formula Hood and the louvered hood used on 1985-1992 Trans-AMs. There are also fiberglass copies of the OEM hoods if you'd prefer one of them. There are a few other designs out there too, but this is what I could track down easily.

Re: firebird hoods?
The Firebird SE in 85/86 had a hood like the later Trans Am but without the rear vents. Kinda neat IMO. I like the stock power bulge, IMSA, and RAI hoods the best on 3rd gen birds, but that's just my opinion.
