Paint Stripping

What would be the cheapest and fastest way to strip the paint off of the stock alloy rims. I have a 1982 Camaro and it looks like they used krylon paint to cover them, As well as paint and or touch up the car. I am about to start the body but the crap on the tires has got to go. I would rather rum the rims plane jane than with a krylon coat. Also could use some pointers on fiberglass work, Like, Should I use that rather than putty on the doors and other metal? I would like to buy the passanger door but I just cant find one in my price range (well under 200) that has electric windows, That is unless they are kinda easy to swap out the motor and all the other parts then I know I should find one cheap at least I hope.

Re: Paint Stripping

Fiberglass isn't necessary unless you're filling a hole. If it's just a dent you can use plain two-part body filler plastic. You don't want to use the one-part putties, they take forever to dry and aren't well suited for filling.

If you want to take the paint of the wheels there si nothing better than aircraft stripper

Make sure you get the thick stuff you have to brush on though, they spray stuff is a little to runny for me and takes to long, its not strong enough. after you clean the stuff off you can just put a few coats of the old rattle can on in whatever color you want

I myself dont know. I would think not. You dont see dogs at a place that uses cems like this. I may be wrong, but I am going to use it in the garage because I have a dog also then go down to the car wash and blast the wheels with hot water.

Re: Paint Stripping

That stripper is very toxic. It neutralizes with water. If you do decide to use aircraft stripper make sure your in a well ventilated area and wear a respiratior if you have one. The fumes are brutal. Make sure you rinse the area with water very well.
Use a good quality body filler that adheres to bare metal. Tthe cheaper fillers don't have the adhesion that the better quality ones do. Good luck.
