Can this bumper cover be saved?

Bought a 1991 Formula to add to my collection. It was involved in rear ending someone. I'd like to not have to replace the nose, however I can get a color matched one for ~380 shipped to me. So, the question is can this nose piece be saved and is it worth it? I've attached pictures.

I'm no 'Bird expert, but $380 shipped sounds reasonable - esp color-matched. I paid $400 shipped for a non-color-matched 1992 Camaro nose.

It wouldnt be worth paying to have repaird but if you have a heat gun and time you could fix this bumper just heat small areas and get it stright and cool with a wet rag and $380 is a good price for a new one and this color is hard to match even if you have the car in front of you but to match a bumper that you cant even see well ???????

By color matched I mean it happens to have the same GM paint color as mine. Will it match exactly, no, but it is close enough.

Good to know about the heat gun, because I do have one. Maybe I'll mess around on the weekend with it.

heating wont work .... the paint will blister and lift long before the urethane heats up enough to shrink and remove the distorted areas.

It actually worked great. Used the heat gun and a damp cloth and pushed out almost all the dents. I'd say it's at about 90% good, which is good enough. The hard parts where the curves in the bumper. No paint blistering at all.

So I'm betting its color match to factory specs.... well if the car has had any life parked out of the garage you can kiss teh factory match good bye. Usually the yellow pigment in the paint goes first. Most shops with a car on hand can account for that. Worst case they blend on to the next panel and clear both to mask the transition. You will not have this ability

Glad the heating has worked. Keep and eye on it when the temp changes!

Re: Can this bumper cover be saved?

The color match was that it happened to be the same factory color as mine. Means the color was probably close enough given that the factory urethane bumpers don't match perfectly anyway.

I never once mentioned that it was new.

Re: Can this bumper cover be saved?

The round piece bolts to the front was a set of garbage fog lights that I removed.

I've seen one 91/92 Firebird in the yards around here in all my years of going, but it had gfx, so that didn't help me much.

Re: Can this bumper cover be saved?

The only ones we ever saw usually had GFX too, but they were destroyed. I always wanted to get the back bumper off a v6 or non-gfx car since it does not have the black bumper inserts that the earlier ones did and use to make my formula cleaner looking in the rear. I hate those freaking inserts!
