Removing T-Top Weather Stripping

Hey all,
I have been cruising for info on how to remove t-top weather stripping and can't find any threads on the subject. Is there any way to remove them easily? Also is there any way to remove them without ruining the gaskets?

Thanks, DacMan

They should be just glued in and I really dont think you can get them off without tearing them. Why are you removing them if they leak get new ones?

Re: Removing T-Top Weather Stripping

No I'm repainting the car and want to get the t-top jams. Should there be a metal structure under them? Mine have this weird metal structure I think they glue to it, but I can't tell.

Thanks, Dac

I saw some weatherstripping remover spray from 3m at walmart/oreillys/autozone. Costs freaking 6-8 bucks if I recall though.

I have a can of it, it was like 25 bucks! It doesn't work very well either in my opinion. lol. although I bet a spray would work better.

Thanks for the idea, DacMan

You might try heating it up, a heat gun or a blow drier would suffice. Might work lol

Re: Removing T-Top Weather Stripping

lol, sorry guys but I ended up trying most everything last night on my passenger side and couldn't get them off. I didn't want to tear them, so there they sit. I'll just paint around em.

Sorry, DacMan

Re: Removing T-Top Weather Stripping

if you have a heat gun and a chisel(like a wood working one) this works pretty good. you could substitute the chisel for a flathead screwdriver as well if you have nothing else. I just did the same thing cause I stripped the car to bare metal. Just take your time and you wont rip anything. Start at the back section and work your way all the way around the the a-pillar. Dont heat the rubber too much cause it will tear. You want to heat the surface and scrape underneath. Your painting the car so dont worry about any scratches where the weather stripping is anyway. your best to treat those areas with por 15 or someting while you have the stripping off anyway.
