Flexibility
My front bumper was really chipped up, so I ended up pulling it off, sanding it (as suggested by the guy at the paint store) for hours, painting it with an hvlp system my dad has for his painting business, and adding the black to the headlight buckets, making it look beautiful.
I guess last night some @$#*^% at the college decided to pull in to fast and hit my front bumper. It's not so bad at the moment, but it's cracked bad in one part, and I know that within a couple weeks it's gonna look just as bad as it did before I painted it.
I have some paint that was mixed up for me that's left over, but there's not quite enough. It's just Nason that was eye matched to my car's color, which is white. This is our local paint place, and they specialize in Dupont, as well as Nason, which is Dupont. I don't know what the minimum amount they will mix up is, or how much a better paint would cost, but assuming I just get some more of what I have as I already have some, what can I do to make this paint more flexible? Can I buy a flex agent to add to it? Would a clear coat help against cracking? I used a flexible primer.
I know that another car crashing into your bumper is pretty much gonna make it crack, but mine was cracking around the bottom lip from flexing anyway, so I think some flex agent could have helped avoid some of this cracking. This time I intend on stipping it down to bare plasitc and starting from scratch. What do you guys think? From now on I'm parking in the parking garage, which is monitored by cameras, so when someone hits me, they'll pay to have it fixed at a shop
