Shaky Out Side Mirror Glass

I can see that the screws that hold the outside mirror in my 1990 Camaro are loose. Does anyone know how to get these screws out? Can I pop the glass out of the housing? These mirrors are electric, if that makes a difference.

Re: Shaky Out Side Mirror Glass

If you adjust the mirror all the way out (or maybe in), you can just barely see in there - there are little what loks like screws, that have round ***** on the ends - these round ***** kinda 'click' into little round sockets - if you pry really really gently, you can either 1) pull these ballsout of their sockets, or 2) pull the threaded part out of their holes.

Basically, the threaded parts are turned by the motor, and that runs that side of the mirror in/out. Just like I said - very very gently. Good Luck!

I'll try to be very very careful, and I'll let you know if I am successful!

And - don't try cleaning the mirror surface with glass cleaner and superfine steel wool! I assumed they were actual glass, and thought I could scrub some bad funk off with light rubbing with 0000 steel wool - found out the hard way they are plastic and not glass, so the steel wool scratches!
