1983 Z28 Camaro (New Red Paint Job!!)
I bought this car around this time last year. I took it to a few car shows last summer and saw that a lot of people liked it and said it had potential. So over the winter I bought all new emblems, stickers, paint, and weather stripping. I just got the car painted and ready to be put back together. I will put up some pictures of the car completely done.
Let me know what you all think of the paint job.

Re: 1983 Z28 Camaro (New Red Paint Job!!)
Thanks everyone!! The paint looks really bright in the pictures because its still wet, but it should be darker when its all dry. I'm so excited to see it all put back together with all the emblems and stickers.. I have put a lot of time in this car over the winter. I pretty much fixed everything that was wrong with the car from interior to exterior.

Magnificent!
It's cool to see another owner keeping their resto true to the original styling themes.
Even though I also like the IROC-Z trim a lot (and used to own one), there's something classy and understated about the 82-84 Z28's. Great job on all your hard work!

Beautiful. What about the T-top weatherstripping, where it overhangs the side windows?

Re: 1983 Z28 Camaro (New Red Paint Job!!)
I made the cut this morning for the car show. I got up at 6 am to finnish the car up. I had to pull all the tape off the car from the night before. Then i had to put the front ground effect on, and put all the new emblems on. I spent 2 hours washing and cleaning the interior and exterior. I still have to put the sticker kit on around the car and the hood.

Looking sharp in arrest me red. I personally like it without the stickers going around the bottom. The way you have it now looks cleaner but that's my opinion. Either way, nice job!!

She looks great!!! How coats of paint did you apply?? Was 1 gallon sufficient for the hi-glossy finish for how many coats?? Best of luck with her. Next spring I'ma hoping mine'll be done.

Looks great. We tend to forget how good those cars looked back when new and original. Nice to see you keeping it that way.

Re: 1983 Z28 Camaro (New Red Paint Job!!)
very good looking! car my brother had an 84' Z same color combo. I was wondering... if yo know what the name for your hood is? i have a 91' and want to find that hood for it(love the way it looks looking out over it at wide open black top) anyway im trying to search for a used one but when i put 82-84 z28 camaro hood in i find cowl's and iroc hoods, so if there is a name for it id like to know to make searching easier?

Re: 1983 Z28 Camaro (New Red Paint Job!!)
It's called the SMC hood.
All you need on the front is the louvered sections on the sides of the license plate and polishing the turn signals. You might be able to get them looking new with 2000 grit sand paper and plastic polish. On the rears, you could probably get away with rubbing compound, then polish.
Looks real good.

Looks great Sid. Is the paint single stage or does it have a clearcoat?
