Key broke off in hatch lock

My key broke off in the hatch lock. Been that way for a while, Ive just been using the electric release. But its on my fix-it list.

Any ideas how to get the little piece out? Theres nothing to grab with pliers obviously. Its pretty deep in there.

Superglue something to it and pull? Kindof doubt it would hold.

Re: Key broke off in hatch lock

Was the key that weak to begin with, or is the lock cylinder that hard to open that it snapped the key? You may be better off ordering a new cylinder from the dealer, if memory serves they aren't too expensive, and they can code the cylinder to match your existing key.

OK thanks, I didnt realize they still offered the lock cylinder.

I believe the key was weak from years of use. Its also coded to be pretty skinny in the middle so recipe for disaster.
