Car: 89 Trans AM GTA

Engine: 5.7 V8 TPI

Transmission: Auto

Fender Info?

i am in the process of fixing up a 89 firebird (base model) and I needed to replace the drivers side fender (due to rust) I ended buying two new aftermarket trans am fenders with air extractor holes in the sides of them. My question is what goes into that hole? is it some kind of vent like on my hood?
