In the market, need help
Hi I am new here but not new to TPI engines. I have an 85 vette that made 406rwhp and 440tq. But all that power is the problem. I hate putting miles on it and it is not the ideal drag car with IRS.
This brings me to my love of 3rd gen camaros. I know I like them but dont know much about them.
What are the body line changes between years?
I dont mind the engine since this will be a driver until I feel like doing an LS swap but it will get a holley stealth ram intake until that is ready.
Also what aftermarket seats fit the nicest?
What problems came with each year?
Did they come with disc brakes all around?
What is the biggest tire I can fit without problem?
thanks for helping a camaro noob

Any aftermarket seats can have custom brackets made, the ones that are closest to the stock sizes will obviously "fit" the best.
I would generally look for cars from 85 through 88 if I were you, as these years have better bracing for the front steering, and subframe, and they do not have VATS, which in my book is a plus. Get an IROC if your looking for the best overall "package". Alot more 3rd gens came with drums, than they did with discs. My car is an IROC, and it had a drum rear until I swapped a disc rear in.
The widest tire I have seen fit on the rear without and mods is a 295. Don't go any bigger than a 245 wide on the front or there may be rubbing issues.

I know I like the 91-92 groundfx the best but that can be added. So I should look for an 85-88. thanks
Did all 3rd gen years have ttop options?
