Camaro hood on a firebird??
Camaro hood on a firebird??
So i am getting rid of the pop-up headlights on my firebird. i was thinking of putting a camaro hood on it so there wouldnt be two squares in the sides of the hood for pop-up lights i dont have. does anyone know if a camaro hood will fit on a firebird??

If you look at the fenders on a firebird, they slope way differently than a camaro (they go farther to the ground in the front)
I don't see how a camaro hood would line up with that, even if you somehow tilted the hood down in the front, it doesn't have the same contours as the firebird fenders.
I'm not saying its not possible, I'm saying its very unlikely, very very highly almost impossibly unlikely.
You would be better off welding to a firebird hood to close where the headlight buckets were
Now that i think about it, if the top of the headlights on a firebird are metal, you could take them off, and weld them to the hood? then it would be matched if the hood has any contours there.

Reminds me of a sunbird.

thanx for the photo shop pic it looks good. that is a very good idea to weld them to the hood but the buckets are not steel. i think they are aluminum or cast something. i actually plan to tilt the hood up a few inches at the back to allow air to escape the engine compartment so maybe difference in the hood will work out for me.

instead of raising the back of the hood, cut heat extractors on the top of the hood near the back.
And a camaro hood won't work on a firebird. We laid one on my 86 Trans Am and it sat up about 4-6" at the nose.

Re: Camaro hood on a firebird??
As already said above.....Camaro hoods will not fit.
Firebird headlight doors are not a sheetmetal to weld to. They are cast, which I believe to be unweldable to the hood.
VFN does have (i'm sure others do too) a fiberglass 'bird hood without the headlight doors.
I know this subject has not only been brought up many times. I know because I have responded.
A simple use of the Search feature provided by the TGO site, would have given you these same answers.
