Re: z28 hoods?
So most hoods, regardless of style, were steel in the 82-92 run, correct?

Re: z28 hoods?
Well, if you cound ALL thirdgen Z28 hoods, all three styles together (inlet, louver, blister) then yes.
But if it's just the first style, the 82-84 inlet hood (which is what's on the car in OP's avatar), then most were fiberglass...

. Because the OP has a fiberglass hood on his 86, I supposed it wasn't original to his car.

Re: z28 hoods?
It definitely wasn't original on an 86. Seems it's an 86 Sport Coupe, these had the plain flat steel hoods. Any cheap, common RS hood would be correct for that car. Heck, mine started as a near-identical 86 SC, as well...

Re: z28 hoods?
The hood isnt factory, so my only choice is to get a fiberglass hood i take it? unless i find an iroc hood, i believe those were steel?

Re: z28 hoods?
Like I said, the original was a flat (no inlets, no louvers, no anything) steel hood, like the most common one you see on those thousands of RSes out there. Very easy to find. This is the 'correct' type if you want your car to look original.
If you don't care about original, you can put any hood you want on it. 82-84 Z28 hood, either fiberglass or steel, 85-onwards steel Z8/Iroc hood with plastic louvers, or any of the countless aftermarket hoods with vents, cowls, bulges... anything you can think of.
