That is a 4 in cowl on a camaro, i think they look sick if they have a nice race motor sitting under them, i would 2 or 3 inch if you have a stock motor and 4 inch if you plan on putting some muscle under there and you really need the clearance. The 4 inch is for racing.

Re: What size cowl hood to get?

all you added was a 1" throttle spacer? a 2" hood would be more than enough, if you even need that.

big cowl hoods are stupid on a car that doesn't need them to cover something. It is also a factor of local laws, in NJ, you are limited to 2.5"? or it can be considered obstruction. Probably not an issue if you dont drive the car every day, but if you DD the car, you will probably get pulled over eventually for it.

well ya i have a nice motor in it now. i am guessing it has close to 350 hp. and it looks really nice that's why i think it would be okay to put a nice tall cowl on it. and i also need some more clearance. but i dont want something to short, i want it to stick out.

I wouldnt go above 3 inches... that's what I have. Nice room under the hood but still decent visibility. And it's not TOO ostentatious.

x2 for the goodmark cowl hood.

i have one myself, although its still in primer. very nice fit and function.

made a big difference in throttle response too. my 350HO was very happy to have all the extra ambient air.

That is one nice hood and one nice car, but I agree the 4 in stick up is huge and just doesn't look right for anything but a drag car.

this is a 3" harwood glass bolt-on hood that i bought for my '91 rs in 2004. it fit the air cleaner well and wasn't too tall to make forward visibility suffer too bad.
