Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
My son had his license plate in the window instead of on the fascia. PO had just screwed it in on the left side just above the fog light. Tapped the fascia with two wood screws. Just awful. Texas requires that you have two plates on the car. The Texas department of Justice gets money for each plate that is produced by the inmates. Two plates, means double the money. I will argue in court that we don't have a bumper, only a "fascia" and an "impact bar". I have an exploded view from the dealership and it doesn't reference a "bumper" anywhere.

I hate the fact that I had to drill into my bumper but I've gotten pulled over way to many times for having only one plate on.

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
After years of having 2 plates required the governer is now thinking about making it only a rear plate now to save money ... now ...after I put a plate on the front!

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
i keep havin the same problem and i know what i must do to fix it. im gonna drill holes just under the lip out of sight of the center bottom of the fascia. put som heavy duty zip ties goin to the license plate loose so it can swing and wahlah. the wind pushes it back when your at speed hiding it just enough to make it hard to read. and when you stop, or get pulled over..., it is down and fully readable. what do you think?

Yes, there is a plate available but I still have to ruin my front "fascia". I go by the "word" of the law which states "front bumper". I have no bumper. I go to court on the 13th of October. I'll let ya'll know.

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
Well, for an update. My girlfriend dropped me off at the court in Universal City. While waiting in line to get into court, the officer says "no cell phones in court, period". Now I call the GF back to come get my phone. I tell her to come back in an hour to get me. I start to go into court and pass through the metal detector arch. Then another cop stops me and says "no shorts allowed in". I start laughing. Are they trying to make this difficult? He says I can change into pants. I tell him that I am in a federally directed uniform (postal) and I have worn it into many a court room with no problem. Even argued an eviction case in the same. I tell him that it is a "federal" uniform and they cannot stop me. Still will not let me in. I go to the payment window and show the lady my reciept for the license holder. She says she needs a picture. WTF? Where does it say that? or the "no shorts/phone" policy on the computer printed ticket that I was given? I told her that I would just wait for the Warrant to be issued and then fight it. So I check a week later and the Warrant is $720.00! I call and say how is it this much? Lady says thats the cost for the tickets and warrant. I tell her that I didn't even get to go in, or enter a "plea". "You didn't show, " she says. "so you are guilty by default".
Wow, I didn't even know that there was a "default" justice in the US.
So, now a friend and I will try to challenge the entire debaucle by suing the judge, city, and police department.
I'll let ya'll know.

I thought it was common knowledge to not show up in shorts, no matter if it's part of a federal uniform or not, it's being respectful towards the courts. I know the courts here say don't show up in them and also don't allow cell phones, even if turned off. Seriously, you are the type of person I just hate. Always shifting blame away from yourself and not taking responsibility for your own stupidity and actions.

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
I`ve seen shorts in court several times.Speaking of respecting a judge I`ve seen long pants where the person would have looked more respectable in shorts.Cell phones are allowed here as long as turned off or silent.
One time i saw a judge tell everyone to turn them off or put on silent.....5 minutes later his cellphone rang, lol. He was also wearing jeans and cowboy boots under his robe.I`ve seen one with loafers and no socks.Of coarse they can do what they want because they`re above the law or dress codes or respecting common citizens.Too many public servants forget they are just that, servants. They work for us and are paid by us.Not better than, above,or deserving of preferential treatment.
Some police officers are issued shorts for their duties. Are they allowed in court in the uniform?Yes,I`ve seen them.
There should be prior notification of a dress code not just an implied dress to respect. In my mind he showed up for court and was not allowed in.This is still supposed to be a free country. This seems to me a violation of his civil rights.
I agree with the idea that he should have had a tag on the car. There are plenty of threads on TGO showing ideas of how to do it without drilling holes in your fascia.
You`ve prolly pissed off one of the officers so they`re trying to make your life difficult.Which they can do.Doesnt make it right.Give an average man a little power and it will usually go to their heads.Doubtfull you will win your case in a local kangaroo court. You`ll have to be prepared to take it to a higher court IMO.Your biggest worry will be the bench warrant, being pulled over and jailed until the fine is paid unless you`ve already done it.Goodluck!

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
Wow, sorry it's been a few years since I've been on here. Been working on Ford trucks for a while.
Now, back to the topic.....I've been down to the San Antonio City courts on and off for quite a few tickets. The cops get to wear thier uniforms and I can wear mine. No one has even said a word about shorts in court, so the "respect for the courts" is out the window on that one.
I went to a "county" court in Seguin, TX and they said the same thing..."no shorts". I asked to see the Judge. I was escorted to his cambers and I stated that I was in a federal uniform, which outranks a county court. He still stuck to his guns that I had to have pants. I then told him that I had to go to jury duty recently in Seguin and showed up in shorts, the presiding judge relented on the shorts issue and that he should also now follow that lead, or I could sue the county court in federal court for free since I am a disabled veteran and that may tie this issue up for months. He relented and let me in the court. "This one time", he said. I was scheduled for trial by jury.
********************************************************
End note: My girlfriend got sick and I missed the pre-trial arguments. Cost me $1300.00 in the longrun. There.....I'll even tell ya when I don't win.
See.....its people like you that just follow the presumed rules and never question anything. Not me...this is America.

No show on court date, wears shorts to court, argues with judge over said shorts.......
Pisses judge off..................GUILTY and big fine is gonna be the result!
A judge just LOVES these kinds of folks appearing before them..................

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
Wow man, you already knew from jury duty that you could not wear shorts. You debate the fact with the judge, bailiff, and anyone else you can. You won a small battle and he allowed the shorts, you lost the war. A $1,300 lesson learned the hard way. When dealing with the courts you have to kiss some butt. Doesn't mean it's right, doesn't mean you shouldn't feel slighted, it's just the way it is. You don't **** off people who have power over your life. It never ends well.

Re: Problems with rear view mirror.....
Sorry guys, two different courts. I won the court in Seguin, TX. I only lost the one in Universal City, TX because my girlfriend was sick and I missed the Pre-Trial date, so I also got an FTA boost on the total.
So, I got to suck it up. Don't mistake the FTA as a loss in the argument, I never got to the argument.
I am 9 wins out of 11 cases so far, so I'm slugging an .818 average with the local police departments here.
Pissing people off is irrelevent in the court cases, law will prevail. I don't care what judge I ****-off.
