3rd brakelight

have '86 Camaro Z28 (I believe) how do u tell an IROC from a Z28...all my emblems were gone when I purchased the car...whats the diff between a Z28 IROC and a plain 'ole IROC?...it has a T-top...I read where ONLY 86's had an EXTERNALLY mounded 3rd brake light on the leading edge of the back window...mine has it mounded INTERNALLY!!??..back window has not been changed/replaced..any info would b greatly appreciated (new to this forum and 3rd Gen)...camjam

If you car really is an 86, then the rear hatch must have been replaced as they only had the third brake light mounted internally in 91-92. AS far as I know, there was only the Iroc-Z28 or Iroc-Z. Either that or just the Z28. Check your VIN and your RPO codes.

In 86 it was mounted up high in the back glass.It was moved to the spoiler,if equipped,in 87.Follow the link or read the tech data on the main page.

That's true it was mounted on the glass in 86 but on the outside. It then moved to the spoiler in 87 until 91 where it moved to the inside of the glass.
