1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
I have a 91 Camaro, but contrary to what many people would do, I do NOT want the 91-92 style ground effects. I actually want the front lower spoiler that came off the 82-84 z28, the one with the little "vents" in the middle. Call me a fool, but that's just what I wanna do cuz I like making my cars look different than what most people want.
With that being said, does anyone know if that front ground effect will snap right on in the same places that the other one would clip onto the bottom of the bumper cover? Or do I have to go and get the 82-84 bumper cover as well? I would think that it should just clip on no problem, but I want to make sure. Does anyone know? Also does anyone in the Chicago area happen to have one that I can buy? Thanks for any feedback.

Re: 1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
you 100% have to change the front bumper The bumpers are completely different in shape, so the 82-84 ground effects will not bolt up to the 85-92 front bumper.

Classic industries has reproduction bumpers and front spoilers for about $400 or so for both.

All thougth you already got your answer, I would just like to point out that this topic has been discussed MANY times. (I've relied to most of them myself). Just do a quick search next time.

I have asked this before, But I will ask the moderators again. Could someone make a sticky on the different body and ground effects compatibility? And possibly what it takes to convert your cars to different style ground effects and maybe how to remove them? If this is something that could be made a sticky and nobody wants to do it I would be happy to work on it just let me know. This just seems to be the most commonly asked question here so let me know.
And I mean no offense to chevydrvr at all.

None taken. I know how frustrating it must be to get the old "do a search" reply. I'm just trying to keep things easier, that's all.A sticky is a great idea, and I'd be willing to help out if I can!

Ok cool thanks for your response and not taking offense. Some help would be great I'm sure all the info is already here, it would just be a matter of finding it and putting it all in one place. I also have a service manual for a 92 camaro so we could get some instructions there on removal and installation hopefully we hear back from a mod and can get started on it. Thanks again.

Re: 1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
another question that came up, since you all still are talking about it anyway haha...ummm the position of all the lights will still be exactly the same right? mainly i'm thinking of the lower ones, the turn signals, or parking lights, or whatever the hell they're called, the yellow rectangular ones near the bottom of the nose. i was looking at pictures and in the 1982-84 front end, they look more recessed (and maybe even a different size??) and the 91-92 ones seem more or less flush with the rest of it. will they still fit right in the same way, just a bit recessed, or do i actually have to get some lights off an 82-84 also if i end up doing this switch? thanksss

Yes, the 82-84 are recessed, and 85-92 are more flush. I'm not sure about size differences, but I'm sure the brackets are different. I would just try to find the lights off of an 82-84 z28 or sport coupe(?) I know that certain models had smaller lights.

Re: 1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
I believe the lights are different. I've got the old set from my 88 if they'll work. Wiring harness is same as is rebar. Light bolts to bumper I believe. My 88 does for sure.

Re: 1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
I did a search and found nothing on fitting a 82-84 chin on my 86 sport coupe. Will It Fit? I have noticed mounting holes under my bumper cover. I would completely change the bumper but I like the looks of the three slots and I think they would match up well with the slots in the chin. I found this 82 berlinetta with the z effects on it, it is also in the new issue of camaro performers readers rides. So it looks like it could be possable. Any difference in the 82 berlinetta to the sport coupe cover they look the same.

Re: 1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
I dont want any ground efx other than a chin spoiler. I am not looking to add weight. I no they don't weigh much but every little bit counts. Just curious if I could make it fit. Thanks.

Re: 1982-1984 front lower spoiler question
Yeah you could somehow, I guess it depends on if you really want those slits or vents in the spoiler. If that isn't a concern then I would just buy the spoiler from classic and mount it on your nose but if you want that spoiler I would switch the nose to the 82-84 style.
