Re: How do you keep water out of your Ram Air/SS hood
sorry bro. cant do pics or ideas. the rain always wins. i never took mine out in the rain because of the ram air set-up i made. i wont ever be able to! good thing i got a daily driver!
but im not sure how it would work with blocking it of or putting dams? i think that would defeat the purpose of having that slot...

I was thinkin more for carb setups, the way you have your ram air setup up I see it being a pretty big difference in air flow.
Also I would only have it on while its raining. My two vehicles are my GSXR and my Camaro, so when its cold and rainy the camaro is the best one to take out lol

Currently on my ss hood, with a carb setup,I carry a roll of duct tape, and if I get caught in the rain,I put some of that over the inlet.Sounds a bit ghetto, but I dont usually drive it in the rain,if I can avoid it.One of these days I'll make a block of plate for it.

Should compare pretty even as with those hood I got about as much ducting till it get to the engine and with my 68 Firebird hood scoops Ive drive year round for many years, rain, snow, shine no problems.
I have used some screen before on and off, but it was only to keep leaves and acron's out of the intake.

Re: How do you keep water out of your Ram Air/SS hood
You have to use a water separator plate and sump. Basically the air will have to pass thru some sort of vertical S curve, meant to trap the water and allow it to run off and collect in a low spot. The low spot has sump holes on either side to allow the water space to drain, while the air continues on. The ram air effect will still function, as the entire S curve will pressurize. You can also add a screen to catch larger particulate and debris. Look at some of the old factory designs to get ideas for what you need to create.
