how do i dismantle the third brake light? it wasnt working.. i figured it was the bulbs? but it wont come apart..

screws are also rusted to hell..

 

Not really sure what you mean about dismantle. The two screws on the ends hold it in the spoiler. Once you take those out, the wiring harness and light bulb sockets 1/4 turn into the assembly. You only need to unscrew each bulb harness from the socket.

Can you elaborate on the issue more?

 

You've gotta get those little screws out. Once they're out it'll come apart and you can get to the bulbs.


There are 5 bulbs in there though, if none of them work I'd use a test light on the wiring first just to make sure its actually getting power. It'd be odd to have them all die at once.

 

4 screws in the back, is that the ones that hold the bulbs in i assume? there all rusted to hell, what would be the easiest way to get them out, and are those the ones that hold the bulbs in?

guess imma have to grind down the screws? they will not come out ive tried everything, there rusted to hell, ideas?

must just be your year, mines an 87. theres 4 screws in this one.

so i drilled out the holes, any clue on wheer i can get the bulbs for this now? lol.

 

Two screws hold the light (lens and housing together) into the spoiler, once you have it out there are 4 more tiny ones on the back that hold the lens to the housing.

On a Camaro.......

87-90 Firebirds, it is just the 2 screws holding teh lens on, Then the bulbs pop in and out

Thanks for that link I thought they were dealer only. Sadly my whole board is rotted out so I can't just get the lights
