SS hood scoop area.
Hi all.Has anyone thats running a fiberglass ss hood had any problems with air getting in between the two halves of the hood.On mine, the area just behind the inlet grill has a gap between the scoop and the bottom of the hood, and i'm
concerned about flexing, and cracking, and at worst separation of the two halves.
Maybe I could seal it with epoxy or something similar.Has anybody had any issues. It's the ss hood from hawks by the way. Thanks for any help.
Alicat.

Re: SS hood scoop area.
you always can play around with some fiberglass sheet any lay em' and close up the gap so you dont have to worrie about the air getting in between em. If you do not feel comfortable im sure you can pay aa bodyman on the side to do it for you for.

Re: SS hood scoop area.
due to the hollow area underneath.I think I will seal the gap, just for extra insurance. The hood is well made overall.

toxik..just realized man..those were installed 180* backwards.. It seems everyone with these cars is doing them backwards.. I need to know why since I plan to do mine soon.. Aerocatch states the proper way to install is the narrow end towards the front of the car but the last 3-4 3rd Gen's I have seen have them installed backwards..but I do have yet to hear any problems..just wondering why everyone is doing them that way?? Space?? Now that I am about to do mine..
As for the Original poster.. I believe this is why my hood has an extra thick lip..as this seals off the 2 halves.. I will be careful in sanding mine down to fit it better the the front bumper and fenders..

Re: SS hood scoop area.
I was given one for free from a guy on here about 6 months ago. His separated on him going 80mph. He told me that the early ones weren't glued in the middle around the scoop, just the outer edges and after looking at the two pieces that is absolutely true, NO sign off glue in the middle section. After enough time the outer edge glue breaks lose from air getting in and off the top comes. His was one of the very first ones and they have since corrected that issue so you will be fine. I used panel bond to secure the two half's and was very generous with it. I am going to fill it in just to be safe with some glass. I have two of these hoods now, got both off here and they both are ascd hoods, paid for one and got one for free, couldn't pass that up.

Yeah..they're popping up everywhere now.. But anyway I stated because this is how I originally wanted to do mine since the flow of the latch design would be better that way (backwards according to Aerocatch). You DID use the original hood bumper holes correct?? I want to do so on mine but it won't be completely center to the headlights..hmm.. Ah well..if they hold up on yours I am sure they will on mine..

Lol..friend.. Just saying you have more power and probably use your car a lot more than I do/will.. I'm talking about the torquing of the front of the car.. I want to get some bracing up there since I use the flush style and all others use the Plus Flush.. But then again..I may have a plate made for the top as well.. Alright no more hi-jacking..sorry OP..
P.S. Drunk a bit writing that last one huh toxik..just kiddin'
