Reworking 87 Bird

Hello everyone, I thought I would post some pictures, and progress on my 87 Formula I am currently redoing.

All in all the car wasnt that bad to begin with, but still needed some work. It was my brothers car, who recently passed away, so I decided to take it and make it into something that he would of loved.

I currently have the car stripped of all parts, including Drivetrain. I am putting in a 383 stroker, with a turbo 400, Going to do a custom interior, and repaint the body, new rims/tires etc.

Here are some pictures to get this started, and I hope im posting in the right forum?

Her are a couple of pictures of what the car was:

Front K-Member dropped, taken apart, sending member and spindles out to blaster to get cleaned and powder coated. Getting New A-Arms, new front sway bar, springs, struts, ball joints, etc.

Re: Reworking 87 Bird

Looks like you got a good car to start with. Good luck with it and have fun doing it. I spent about a year with mine and enjoyed every minute. Especially when I put tags on it and drove it down the road the first time. Great info on here for these cars. Keep us posted.

Re: Reworking 87 Bird

While front member is out and other parts ordered, I started to dismantle engine bay, and get it ready for new paint.

Yes white gold, It is a Awesome candidate for a redoing. The car has no rust what so ever. The underneath is like new, as is all the floor boards etc.

Re: Reworking 87 Bird

Looks GREAT!!!! Hope mine turns out as well. What did use for your engine compartment paint? It looks like you went down to bare metal-did you use an etching primer first?
Can't wait to see the rest of the body!
