4th gen power windows and locks in 3rd gen.
So I bought a trashed 2000 firebird, and I'm pretty much stripping everything from it to put it into my camaro. My current project is trying to make my camaros manual doors into a power doors with parts from. I already cracked open both firebird doors and got the motors and other stuff. So before I crack open my camaro doors, I was wondering if it was poosible to even do the swap? has anyone ever done this or am I just wasting my time?

the motors are a direct swap, i believe it is possible if you have all of the tracking and regulators and stuff.

would you happen to know if the camaro doors are made of fiberglass at all. I pried at the firebird doors and later found out that they were fiberglass. Its not really a big deal if I crack it a lil, it can always be fixed. But that is more work than I wanna do.

Thnx guys, Really appreciate it.
Just one more thing, would anyone happen to have wiring diagrams to hook up the doors to the camaro?

Would the arms or actuators fit right in from the 2000 t/a into the camaro?
I am trying to use as much from the t/a as possible.

The wireing from the 4thgen is a direct swap for the windows and locks just don't cut it it unplugs from the main body harness

maybe if youd listen to me, you wouldnt be having this problem....
as far as i know, from what i have seen on ls1tech, the power window motors are a direct swap, sure, but your car has manual windows... i am pretty sure you have to change EVERYTHING out.... buy a camaro that already has power windows and door locks, and take its doors off.. get your car running first damn it.

Re: 4th gen power windows and locks in 3rd gen.
4th Gen window motors are different in that they have a different number of teeth on their gear. They would only work with the tracking and regulator from a 4th gen. I've never heard of anyone swapping over all of that stuff but doesn't mean it's not possible because 4th gen doors and 3rd gen doors are the exact same length and I don't know about the height differences. However, I recommend getting the window stuff out of a thirdgen and buying new window motors off of ebay. Another thing is that the mounting location of the window motor is different on the 4th gen than the 3rdgen.
The electric locks on a 4th gen are different as well and if I remember right are built into the door latch mechanism not as external solenoid like the 3rd gen. The door latch mechanism is different on a 4thgen because it has a different striker bolt. Again, probably better to just get new thirdgen locks off of ebay but I've never bought new locks so might be a better place to buy them other than ebay.
