85 Sniper Body Kit. Aero-Flex?

Hello,
I just bought a 85 Z28, Car is a little rough around the edges and the last owners wanted to make it a show car but didn't know what they were doing. I would like to fix her up and since the car needs a new paint job, minor body work and a new chin I was thinking of putting on this sniper body kit, I'm not sure about the rear bumper but I like the front. My question is does anyone have any experience or anything to say about this "Aero-Flex" material. It sounds familiar and if it's what I think it is it's cheap knock off molds from China. I am not someone to put cheap quality stuff on my cars and this sounds like what a guy I knew a while back had on his 04 Cobra. He had a Cobra R front bumper. It would not line up correctly with the body and his paint was always chipping on the bumper. I remember that his bumper flexed a little so I'm thinking it was the same stuff. Anyways searching the Internet I found this site and here is what they said:

http://www.grounddynamics.com/Produc...K&Show=ExtInfo

"Made out of high quality fiberglass materials. Aero-Flex uses the latest in body styling manufacturing which has a slight flex in their parts making for an easier installation process. You can style your car with the parts you like at reasonable prices and quality. They are able to offer a wide variety of looks for a number of cars, trucks and SUV's."

Both of those kits are ugly bro. Have you seen the wide body kit? It's way better than those two. Or just try to find a 91-92 aero gfx

Yes, I say find the 91/92 GFX for the Camaro. They are on everything in those years so they shouldn't be hard to find. RS Camaro's were still selling like hot-cakes in 91 and 92.

Re: 85 Sniper Body Kit. Aero-Flex?

the rear bumper i do not like. the front is interesting to me. it has the looks of an LT1 and GTZ concept, although it has the curves of an LS1 front bumper

Re: 85 Sniper Body Kit. Aero-Flex?

So a couple years back, I saw a lowered camaro on 22s with lambo doors and a blue metallic paint job with enough flake in it to make me wanna puke. I remember thinking, I will never see something uglier than that.

That body kit is quite possibly "uglier than that".

In regards to your question, I believe you need something in the paint to be some what flexible anytime you're painting on plastic/fiberglass parts. I'm not a painter by any means, so pardon my lack of detail here, but I had a brand new GM direct replacement bumper cover painted, and I know the guys mentioned they had to add something to the paint for flex. A little more digging on this site, or maybe someone with paint experience should get you the details you need.

BTW, in my opinion that body kit is probably one of the better looking aftermarket ones I've seen for these cars.

These cars don't need body kits like ricers. You put it back to a 100% stock look and it will look better than any body kit.

The front bumper kind of looks like a C6 vette knock off...

Wow. Not a very nice community, here on TGO. What ever happened to "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all." Of course, I see that even the Moderators here do the same thing (saying not so nice things, so I guess that is OK here to do, on TGO.

While it isn't my style, I can appreciate the effort of the Original Poster to modify his car to suit him.

If you like it? Do it & ignore the haters. They are probably just jealous.

The guys on TGO are usually very kind and helpful... but in regards to aftermarket body kits, 99% of the members become hostile about it. But after seeing those pictures, can you really blame us?

But seriously, if you own the car and it's your style, then by all means go for it.

Put the kit on a Honda and leave the Camaro alone.
