nosepiece problem

I bought a 1985 z28 front bumper cover and it seems to short to fit my 89 iroc. Here's the problem the 85 nose hits the bumper right where the nose curves to meet the fender. But the old nose is a direct fit. I know the nose is from an 85 z28 it says it on the backside. I thought they were all the same.

Re: nosepiece problem

Yes I removed the old nosepiece. On the backside of my new nosepiece there is a hump that keeps hitting the bumper stop (the honeycomb looking things). I measured the old nosepiece from the parking light to the very bottom where the spoiler locates I get 4 and 3/8 inch the new one measures 4 inches even. That causes it not to clear the honeycomb

Re: nosepiece problem

Are you talking about the crash guard honeycomb stuff? if so i know they had at least 2 different designs to them throughout the years. Not sure when the change over happened though, You could always gently knock it in just a tad if that's the case? Then again this might not even be the problem, Just an idea

Re: nosepiece problem

Yes that's the stuff. Everything looks like it lines up until I go to push the nosepiece in all the way that's when it hits the bumpguards. I measured the new nosepiece it is 3/8 of an inch shorter in height,I measured from the bottom of the parkin lamp to the locating holes for the chin spoiler. All I need is 3/8 clearance and it will go on. The old one goes on like a dream. And I'm 100 percent sure its for a 1985 z28. I really want to make this nose work and I'm open to any suggestions that don't include me rigging or destroying my car
