Painting Inside the Frame

We have been using chassis saver all over the car. We came up with a solution to spray it inside the frame rails, A-pillar, etc. here are some pics of the frame (rear section). We have done the same process in all the frame rails, pillars, T-top area, etc.

We blew out the areas with high pressure air to get as much crud out of them as possible (after removing all the mouse nests!). We also scrapped etc. where we could reach.

We used an old fuel injector cleaning rig (as a basic pressure pot). Basically instead of filling the pressurized container with injector cleaner we put chassis saver in it. We crimped the end of a brake line and used it as the spray nozzle.

For best results you need two people. One person controlling the pressure pot (running at about 55 psi). The pressure pot needs to be agitated a bit (rocked) and it needs to have just a couple of inches of paint (reduced as much as allowed) in it to get a little air in the mixture (if you don't the paint just runs out, it is an injector cleaner after all). The other person works the nozzle and tells the guy with the pressure pot when to turn it on and off. After some trial and error this is what we got.

The black picture is the final result (the other two the before), hard to see because there is no contrast (it is all black) but that is the point!

We eventually got it down to a fine art with almost no waste paint running out (at first we had cups all over the place trying to catch the excess).

BTW, we tried all kinds of things like a garden sprayer etc. None of them worked as well (or at all).

Re: Painting Inside the Frame

Cool idea. Beats spending $20 per can on this.
