Wheel house - floor pans replacement

Hey all,

I am in the process of patching the rear wheel houses and inside rear quarters, and replacing the floor pans on both sides.

Should I remove the gas tank before I start welding??

Thanks for the assistance

Paul

After my day today, preparing the rear wheel houses, and inspecting further. The gas tank will need to be removed. Much to my dismay. The dual exhaust is great hindrance.

Have you got your bird up in the air, at all? The more room you can give yourself, the more likely you will be to make a good repair and of course, having a fuel tank anywhere near welding is a sure bet for catastophe.
Also, take lots of pics for here and yourself-it definitely helps to keep track of your progress.
Good luck!

Re: Wheel house - floor pans replacement

Thanks for the reply.

The car is on 6 ton jack stands, I have enough room to roll underneath and do the brake and fuel line repairs. Welding underneath will be a task.

I am making significant progress. My only concern is...if the floor and the braces are cut out, will there be enough support around to keep strength in the structure.

I am doing one floorpan at a time. I will try to get some pix up.

Thanks
